"THE ENGINE FACTORY"

The Yak 52TW is the westernized version of the Yak 52  with the tail wheel and designed for civil aviation activities.  Aerostar Company in Romania is producing them and they are available now.  Orders to purchase can now be placed.

The powerplant is the 400 hp M14PFX-DK piston engine with a standard three blade MTV9 propellor by Mulbauer or take the option of either Hoffman or Whirlwind as alternatives.

The aircraft has fully retractable landing gear.  The wing has been modified to allow the flush retraction of the main landing gear.  The gear will protrude about 3 inches from the bottom of the wing in the retracted position and be covered with a fairing.  The wing tips are modified to present a rounded horizontal and the vertical planes.    The length of the cockpit is slightly increased to accommodate taller pilots.  The main and tail landing gear have been modified to allow towing of the aircraft either forward or backwards.  The aircraft is fitted with an externally accessible baggage compartment and battery compartment.  It also has a permanent retractable ladder for easy access.

The wings have an additional integral fuel tank between ribs 5 and 9 with a fuel transfer pump to supply auxiliary fuel to the main tanks (approx. 272 litres total).  Cowl and oil cooler controls are in both cockpits.

The main landing gear and flap system will continue to be pneumatically operated.  Hydraulic brakes are standard, with toe brakes in both cockpits.  The Yak 52TW has Cleveland wheels with standard western tyres.  Pneumatic system water drains are operable from the cockpit.

Hooker five point harness belt systems in both cockpits.  Night lights are installed on the wings, with strobes.  Cockpit dash lighting and map lights.  Control surfaces are full metal (same size as before).  There is a stall warning system.  Western instruments, radios and transponder are installed.  All documentation is in English.

The aircraft characteristics and performances are similar to those of the Yak 52W aircraft.  The aircraft is able to take off and land on grass fields.  It has the same maneuverability of the standard Yak 52.  The design ensures easy maintenance with simple access to all elements and equipment.
